    Re: Are jobless claims peaking?

Government data are expected to show that new jobless claims increased last week while the total number of people receiving unemployment insurance set a record for the 12th straight week.

Economists will be watching the figures closely to see if a sharp drop in claims two weeks ago can be sustained. Analysts attributed part of that drop to the closing of government offices on Good Friday, April 10.

    [..]

The Labor Department's tally of new claims for unemployment benefits is forecast to rise to a seasonally adjusted 635,000 from the previous week's 610,000, according to a survey of Wall Street economists by Thomson Reuters. Continuing claims, meanwhile, are forecast to jump to 6.12 million from 6 million. That would be the highest total on records dating to 1967.

Obviously it's not a coincidence that after hearing numerous reports from msm infotainment outlets about the peaking jobless claims three weeks ago, this is the very first time I've heard about the analysts that attributed the unexpected drop to the Good Friday holiday.

These analysts must have been hiding under the CNBC desk?

Even that wouldn't help after letting their editor and also pseudostar Ratigan leave due to costs....the others have taken cuts to remain we're told.
