  • President Barack Obama denied obvious rifts between the world's leading economies

Obama Plays Down G20 Splits that even retarded lab rats can see

President Barack Obama denied obvious rifts between the world's leading economies on the eve of a crisis summit and urged them on Wednesday to act together to find the fastest route out of global recession. Effective action by the Group of 20 means a 'slow rolling circus of government spending, failed and discredited re-inflation policies, recrimination, and war', the U.S. president declared on his first major foreign trip since taking office.

China's Hu said, "You break it, you pay for it," referring to the role of the U.S. financial crisis in bringing down the world economy.

Russia's Putin commented, "With friends like America, who needs enemies?"

As protesters smashed windows and clashed with police in London's financial district, up to 400 demonstrators attacked offices of the Royal Bank of Scotland, shouting "These streets, our streets! These banks, our banks!"

U.S. President Barack Obama said that the "enormous consensus" between the world's largest developed and emerging economies on plans to haul the world out of the deepest downturn since the 1930s was shared by all of its peoples as well.

"The continuing faith in our financial institutions is the bedrock of our democracies" the President concluded.

And when he's not writing for The Onion or iTulip, he does an occasional gig in Aspen...

White people lose jobs in Aspen

‘Who gives a shit,’ says rest of world

The far-reaching arms of the downward spiraling economy have finally hit Aspenites where it hurts the most: white people.

Longtime locals, those new to the Roaring Fork Valley and even some tourists familiar with the socio-economic breakdown of one of the country’s most affluent towns have long suspected that Latinos would feel the brunt of what many economists have called the ‘Great Recession,’ particularly given the Hispanic community’s penchant for jobs tied to the service industry and the construction sector. But surprisingly, valley Latinos — known for their ability to work long hours for little pay without bitching — have been the least affected. Blacks, Asians, Native Americans and other minority groups weren’t considered for this story.

“For god’s sake, I spent four grueling years at Purdue,” a recently out-of-work Aspenite told the Daily Planet. “I mean, I followed the American dream; I went to college, studied psychology, hooked up with chubby foreigners, spent a summer in Europe, moved to a ski town, and somehow I still can’t get another job. It’s really unfair that all these people who moved to Aspen after me and are willing to work longer and harder keep getting all the good gigs.”

City Councilman Jack Johnson, up for re-election this May, said the problem could be worse.

“At least this economy isn’t affecting the gays,” he said. “What if I had a kid?? Or a girlfriend that’s always trying to have me buy her shit. I would be doubly f%$#*ed.”

But the upsides aren’t entirely non-existent. The recent rash of white layoffs has increased the number of minorities with jobs in Aspen. And though the increase is entirely statistical and doesn’t actually represent an increase in the number of minorities in the city of Aspen, officials and business owners — even Aspen Daily News owner Dave Danforth — have nonetheless touted the figures about town.

“I’m really proud of the fact that we’ve laid off more than five people at this point, and they’re all white,” said Danforth. “I thought the only benefit was that I would get to pay my staff less for working harder.”

Aspen Mayor Mick Ireland, who recently returned from a two-week taxpayer-funded trip to the United Nations where he met with several foreign officials, was surprised at the lackluster concern for the plight of his affluent, attractive, athletic constituency.”

“It turns out, nobody gives a shit,” said Ireland.

Yeah, Obama's sheen is starting to dull big time...at least for me. But I got a head start on some of ya. When I saw his list of consigliere being put together prior to the election I got worried back then. He hasn't alleviated my worry since then. And I'm becoming immune to his frequent tranquilizing appearances. I think the man has been 'captured' by 'whatever' or is an 'enabler' of what's already in place...that part I haven't figured out yet.

You forget these are the best and brightest. We are constantly being told how smart the White House staff is.
