And Lukester classifies you as a liberal. Too funny.

I am still very liberal. My grandparents came from Northern Minnesota and were founders of the Democratic Farmer-Labour Party in Minnesota. So, I could never be anything but liberal.

I just don't like pot-heads and the pot-head culture of sitting-around, smoking pot, and doing nothing for the world. That kind of living is selfish and anything but what liberalism is all about.

Twenty-six people shot and killed in Vancouver, BC this month, March, thanks to the drug trade. And marijuana dealing is part of that trade. I do NOT like what I see happening here in B.C.... I hope kids are reading this and taking note of what is happening here in British Columbia thanks to marijuana.

p.s. Many thanks to Medved for some great comments. I really trust that guy's views on a lot of his expressed viewpoints. Has both feet planted firmly on the ground, for this reader.

I'm still trying to figure out which part Steve was referring to as "revisionist history for potheads". The Hudson article? c1ue? Medved? symbols?

          Steve, what say you?

p.s. I appreciate Lukester that you take my good natured razzing like a man. Please send some back any time you feel it's appropriate.

I'm from NYC (well not completely, but it's my adoptive home town after 20 years there). New Yorkers thrive on razzing. :p

I'd like to kiss and make up with Russia. The benefits to both countries is obvious. But how do ya kiss a hungry bear and not get eaten? van

You could practice by giving Medved a kiss maybe. He's got a real cuddly mug shot? C'mere, nice little bear. Come and get your chin scratched.

I think he was talking about that revisionist history book link posted by lambasta.

Someone posted a blog earlier in this discussion about Christ being crucified in the 11th Century, not in 33AD or 34AD which is the generally accepted date. And the post referred to an author, Fomenko, or something like that name, who continued that there was no Dark Age in the Western History. The Dark Age was, according to this Fomenko dude, an invention of those who ruled later: the Christian Church in the Middle Ages, the British in the 18th and 19thC, and the Americans in the 20th C, etc. According to Fomenko (sp?), Rome fell around 1400AD.

So, I call this revisionist history because it is based upon spin rather than considerable evidence and rigor. This is history, therefore, for pot-heads because pot-heads believe anything they want to believe; whatever the spin de jour is, that is what the pot-heads believe. Pot-heads do not check anything for validity because checking takes effort and rigor--- not to mention sobriety.

No accident that those who adhere to faulty logic about solar energy solutions to the global energy crisis, also false theories and spin about sea level rising and global warming are the pot-smokers on the West Coast--- the same bunch who swallow the Fomenko revised world history.

"History for potheads" is a pretty funny way to put it, but I have to admit the same thing crossed my mind when I read that stuff. The real laffer is that the Russian author claims Jesus was really Russian. What a coincidence!

Hhhrrghh! :p :p :p (Sorry folks. I'm gonna try to get more serious here, I promise. SS is just a crackup sometimes with that peeved, sour, deadpan crusty delivery. It's the sour note that cracks me up, every time.)

Sorry Steve - while your views on pot are well known, on the other hand you apparently are smoking crack.

The British empire collapsing didn't result in a Dark Age - unless you call our present Pax Americana a dark age. Which it is in a cultural sense.

The collapse of Rome due to decadence and waves of Central Asian barbarians is a completely different event than some uppity opportunistic nation losing its temporary pre-eminence.

If anything the real danger is this temporary situation not being accepted gracefully - that is what opens the door to much worse things.

I got to agree Vanvaley. That's a very tough call to make. Which one is more cute, the one on the left or the one on the right (looks like he woke up a little grumpy this morning)?

So you would take your chances and roll the dice? In other words, you would wish that America might be graceful now and exit the world stage; and you would let the dice be tossed with world history at stake?

So toss the dice with the Islamo-fascists, Hamas, Hesbollah, the Taliban, Al Qaide, the Iranian regime, the Somali pirates, Hugo Chavez, and all the rest of the bunch?

"If anything the real danger is not accepting this temporary situation gracefully..." (your post)

As in the TV commercial on banking costs: "Am I reading this right?"
