Stimulus, bailout will lead to more fraud: FBI

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The FBI is bracing for a wave of fraud and corruption cases stemming from the government's multitrillion-dollar effort to get the economy moving again, the agency's chief told Congress on Wednesday.

The expected surge in economic crimes will place further strain on an agency already stretched thin as it investigates mortgage fraud, terrorism and corrupt politicians, FBI Director Robert Mueller said.

"Our expectation is that economic crimes will continue to skyrocket," Mueller said.

But you can still tell. I mean, literally the cameras show they were committing a crime and they try to deny it. That same glassy eyed look like a deer caught headlights...well that's how I see some of our Congressmen and Congresswomen acting, and I just can't help thinking they know something that we dont, and/or are trying to cover something very big up, like a massive organized crime syndicate. It's very Machiavellian I know, but I think that it comes with the territory because most politicians are Machiavellian by nature *AND* by profession...

It should be noted that the FBI is no paragon of virtue. Nor is it a shrinking violet as a Bureaucracy when it comes to building its own Empire. The more Crime the better for them.

              As for actual FBI Crime:

              FBI rebuked

A US District Court judge found on September 5, 2006 that the mishandling of Bulger and his associate Stephen Flemmi caused the murder in 1984 of John McIntyre in a lawsuit brought by the victim's family who will receive more than $3 million from the US government. The judge stated that the FBI failed to properly supervise their own agent John Connolly (convicted and jailed in 2002) and also failed to investigate numerous allegations that Bulger and Flemmi were involved in drug trafficking, murder, and other crimes over decades.[26]

Lots more I'm sure going on but who will investigate the Investigators?

Isn't that just the FBI getting ready to ask for more funding in the usual order of bureaucracies?

Or is it that they haven't gotten their fair share of bribes from the previous bailout monies?
