I got my paws firmly fastened on yer apron strings Fred. Lead the way, momma Fred! Tell us which way the bling is gonna go! My bet's currently down, big time, for the next year. The mangy B0nar is gonna catch a bid here regardless, while all us iTuliper's lounge around looking meanly be-grudging, muttering dark imprecations and catcalling. There is a tidal wave headed at Europe that will knock the pylons out from under the Euro - just like the big wave did out in Java. Euro rebound now is technical only. Hard to see a USD swan dive with a sharply weakened Euro as a backdrop. At present I am firmly in the B camp.

Luke, you are a good sport. Your post to Mike was equisitely (ill)timed if I ever saw such.

I agree with your observation that if anyone gets excited about a big move up or down in anything right now, they must have been asleep for the last 3-4 months.

I think the best comment I have read recently was several weeks ago by Jim Grant, the interest rate observer guru/pundit in a NY Times piece where 6-9 pundits were asked when would the bottom in equities occur. Grant's comment as I recall was the first one and to me the most correct. In effect he wrote the bottom will be in when everyone stops asking when will the bottom be in place.

I may not have been keeping up, but I think I am in agreement with you, that PM's will correct to some degree before they ever ascend into the heavens. I think every one expects all this carnage to play out yesterday, and my opinion it will be years before investing in the US is any thing other than a crapshoot.
