New home construction jumps 22%Birmingham Business Journal - by Tucker Echols

    New-home construction soars

New home building unexpectedly rebounded across the country last month as builders increased their housing starts to a 583,000 annual pace from a record low of 477,000 set in January.

The Commerce Department reported Tuesday that starts of new homes in the South jumped 30 percent last month compared to the month before, but they were still 44 percent below home starts in the South one year ago.

Yes, that's what we need. More houses!

Start of a new bull market in home building?

Every drop on that chart has a bottom.

Got Game? I don't think so but they do have TOOLS

Between Trulia and Zillow, the data on property is more than most stained gold-jacketed realtors ever had, just a few years ago. Throw in the foreclosure sites and one can only wonder if these tools will be corralled once the market shows signs of life. It's refreshing to think the residential real estate biz is as dead as the travel agency biz.

It will be years but we'll see if the buccaneer 6% commissions are in Davey Jone's locker for good.

$10 Bucks! Lets sell gold to buy KBH.

C'mon, banks-owned RE does not even appear on MLS anymore.

The backlog is much greater than what most people think.

Not into equities? Perhaps you like this investor's special instead?
