On August 24, 1963, Khrushchev himself remarked in his speech in Yugoslavia, "I once said, 'We will bury you,' and I got into trouble with it. Of course we will not bury you with a shovel. Your own working class will bury you," a reference to the Marxist saying, "The proletariat is the undertaker of capitalism"; a popular articulation of the materialist conception of history as the inevitable progression of class struggle towards communism.

On Oct. 13, 1960, at a UN event, Krushchev allegedly banged his shoe although some suggest the event did not occur. Propaganda?

Nikita's shoe diplomacy was not well received.
Likewise, Muntadhar al-Zaidi an Iraqi journalist used his shoes as a form of self expression. This was not well received either.
The USA does have a shoe policy but it is Top Secret even CLUSTY could not find it.

Also, that Nikita shoe also has a damn stylish and quality look to it. I wonder if NK had his stuff done up in Paree like his successor, Brezhnev?

If I remember correctly, a keen eyed observer noted that Kruschev had both his shoes on and had brought a one into the GA to make his point, either that or the quality of soviet shoes was such that one routinely needed to carry a spare.
