And what exactly *is* the "unthinkable" at this point in time?
Every interest bearing loan is mathematically impossible to pay back.

      Yeah, what is the "unthinkable?"

We won't have panic until while people are making money shorting the market. I don't know anyone who is panicking. People are asking if they should buy and apartment or invest in their 401k. Is that panic? Denial?

I am trying to enjoy these last few months until I dust off the Mad Max buggy and start hunting for insects for food...

Oh, and I am selling my gold and maxing out my credit cards!

Denninger is starting to get perturbed. I think you can tell if it is then end of the world if all of the signs are aligned: 72 point type, blinky text, underlining about 60% of the words, and most importantly references to Elijah Wood movies. That guy need a glass of wine and a back rub.

Those insects are might tasty but somewhat expensive. Hunting is usually best around dinner time at a ***** restaurant. They don't tell the customers this:

"Lobsters are part of the Arthropoda phylum. They are related to insects! Like insects, they have an exoskeleton. Like most arthropods, the lobster is bilateral. That means that if you cut a lobster in half from head to tail, the two halves would be exactly the same!"

How come most people tell me there are positive signs like "a strong dollar." Is anyone else called a gloomy gus in the real world. People get laid off and buy a computer. People talk about investing and house hunting. What am I missing?

This is another very funny thread. Everyone's being witty except Petertribo, who's being didactic about the merit of lobsters.

Why can't I get anyone else to panic around me? It's like I'm yelling fire and everyone is toasting marshmallows. I think people think that this is a bank problem or a stock market problem.

The lobster pounds were dumping lobster on the locals for about $4/lb a few months ago here in Maine. The lobstermen were having a hard time selling their catch as the better restaurants around the country weren't ordering as many anymore and the Governor made a few comments about folks helping the lobstermen out (so I did with both hands).

Barter and trade will be fun here in Maine ... lobsters, clams, mussels, scallops, cod, haddock, shrimp ... I wouldn't want to be anywhere else!
