Spot on analysis on what the sheeple do

Just spotted this advertising campaign by international shoe company Bianco in my local mall. This is taken from their home page. My jaw dropped. This is exactly what most wives and girlfriends do when they hear that a page is being turned in history:



This pretty much captures most people's reaction to what is going on. Boy, are they in for a surprise. It is ironic that the truth now is spoken in comedy and in irony. Even worse, the campaign might actually work.

It's a process, remember:

Denial...Anger...Bargaining...Depression...Accepta nce

So far, it seems, we're mostly still in Denial, with some Anger (Rick Santelli Rant, Wall Street Bonuses, AIG, Auto Execs flying private jets, etc.) and scattered Bargaining (Auto Companies, Citi, AIG, some homeowners).

Depression is when alcohol sales spike.

And Acceptance is when we are all completely out of money, out of jobs, out of homes, out of cars and out of hope.

Are we there yet? Not quite.

So true.

Some time last year my wife demanded that I stop talking about the negative financial s**t storm coming because I was a “Debbie Downer”.

We sold a business early last year and I wanted to put all the profits in laddered CD’s, based on what I was reading here at itulip, and various other web sites.

She won the arguments and we gave ¾ of it to an investment adviser, who bought mutual funds.

Last week she said she remembers what I wanted to do with the money and now wishes that it was in CD’s.

There is no winning….

My wife listens. She loves the gold coins and keeps track of the bonds and CD accounts. We have a great marriage in good times and bad times.

Classic advertising/positioning.

When eating healthy and obesity started hitting the news harder and some places started positioning their menus as healthy, a few other places started advertising how they weren't changing, how unhealthy their food was, etc.

This is the same thing. Their competitors have sales, they push themselves as luxury worth the cost -- or as a voice against the downturn.

Expect more of this by some companies catering to the high end, particularly luxury items.

Thats nature. They have a back up that includes topless dancing. We don't since men are a disgusting site in any light.
