Didn't see the moustache, but what a speech! Right on the money, told people what he meant, then clarified each major point to say what it didn't mean or didn't include. I was touched by the hard news and the request for people (students, parents, auto sector, etc.) to step up to the plate.
Well done!
We just might make it through this mess.

Re: watching obama's speech tonight... what's with the mustache?
Wow, that was some speech (video here & transcript here)! Now I know why they nick named him "The Messiah", and I must say, he's very convincing and especially inspirational...
...but I nearly choked on the water I was drinking when he said that in addition to giving even more money to the military, going after terrorists in Pakistan, solving the economic crisis, fixing the housing foreclosures, making the USA the #1 country with the best education, making the auto industry world-class again, cutting the US deficit in 1/2 within his term (uh-huh) and reforming medicare (!!!), he also is going to have some spare time to find a cure for cancer!!
Damn! I nearly shed a tear in (temporary) belief - he was so good!
Then 15 minutes later I go to my computer and receive an email from EJ about 2009 possibly being the final stretch on the road to ruin (POOM!).
EJ, you're such a party pooper! hehe :-D
I have one question... if 2009 is when gold explodes... then why only increase bullion holding to 30% of your networth?
What are you doing with the other 70% ??
Adeptus
PS. Don't forget to tell us when "it's time at last to short US Treasuries!".Warning: Network Engineer talking economics!

Re: watching obama's speech tonight... what's with the mustache?
It sounded to me as if the focus of the speech was on how Obama is going to get the banks lending again.
I think he is convinced (for real) that they can get securitization going again.
Oh fuckin' boy, am I excited.
And for all of the wanna-be tough guy right-wing crap that Fox News anchors spout, they engage in the very same hero worship that the other networks do.
Only to be topped by Rachel Maddow over on MSNBC, whose mustache is erect while she gives a play by play of the speech highlights. The news media makes me sick.Last edited by Slimprofits; February 25, 2009, 03:18 AM.

Others have noted it, too
I wonder if the American Mustache Institute regrets endorsing Clinton
American Mustache Institute endorses Clinton, Huckabee
Think tank agrees to quench American thirst for political guidance
Feb. 12, 2008 (St. Louis) – With an increasing desire from both mustached and non-mustached Americans for political guidance during primary season, the non-partisan American Mustache Institute today announced its political endorsements for the Democratic and Republican nominees in the race for the 2008 presidency.
“With a crowded field of candidates who have clearly made poor grooming choices, Americans are craving the type of leadership provided by great former presidents Teddy Roosevelt, Chester A. Arthur and William Howard Taft,” said AMI research director Dr. Daniel T. Callahan. “AMI is here to provide guidance in this great time of confusion, and to lay down our expectations for leadership. Our initial decision was to support Chester A. Arthur as we did in 1880, but then my 16 year old son informed me that he has been dead for 120 years.”
AMI officially endorsed the candidacies of Senator Hillary Clinton of New York on the democratic ticket and Governor Mike Huckabee on the republican ticket for the following rationale:
Clinton
♦
Sen. Clinton represents the state of New York, the same state as one of our last mustached Presidents, the great Teddy Roosevelt.
♦
Despite being a woman, Sen. Clinton is the only candidate that has been spotted wearing a mustache. Common knowledge inside the Beltway: she is known to have worn a fake mustache from time-to-time to fit into the good ol’ boys club of Washington, DC.
♦
Sen. Clinton is running against two clean shaven men. Yes, her public platform has been focused on health care, education, and the war in Iraq, but behind closed doors she has admitted to the press that she just cannot stand for another clean shaven man to be elected President.
