  • HOPIUM - that which induces hope

Can Obama cut budget deficit by half by 2013?

Or is hope running too high?

    Old Russian Saying:

"If only the Czar knew, everything would be all right."

Politics in America- Short Course Edition

So-called Conservatives- Substitute Bush (or McCain) for Czar

So-called Liberals- Substitute Obama for Czar.

(Just read a review of Germany's latest volume of their official history of WW2. On the average German's support of the war- initially against another war, followed by victory euphoria, then settling into a grim survival mode. Throughout most of that cycle Hitler was held in high esteem and seen as somewhat above the fray. See- old Russian saying on the Czar above :p)

I asked my wife about this phenomenon. Naturally she nailed it. People need hope, especially when it's hopeless and putting all your hopes into the leader is a natural, naturally ;)

      Your wife is wise.

My girlfriend said this morning over breakfast (as we were listening to the same thing on TV): "People will believe anything".

I am not so sure about external creditors. I myself was laughing for approximately 22.673 seconds.

My guess is that some people in China and Saudi Emirates were choking (from laughter or otherwise).

I'd say this is for domestic consumption really.
