    Re: Gold...........Which way its going?

You guys need to chill out with all your guns and ammo. Seriously, I think of a couple of hundred people I know, maybe 2 or 3 own guns.

On another note, here's a story from Argentina's 2001 Hyperinflation (aka. When the SHTF).

    A few pointers I learned:
    • Video games are a good investment. You don't have money for other more expensive forms of entertainment & it's safer at home.
    • Print out all the info you need from the Internet (i.e. how to grow a garden, etc). Electricity may not always be reliable.
    • LED flashlights are worth their weight in gold (who woulda thought!)
    • Don't forget to have spare meds on hand (before TSHF)
    • With a screw driver and a bar of chocolate some desperate people can fix a nuclear submarine!! (ok that was a joke)
    • Junk gold-look-alike jewlery is worth its weight in gold! Apparently, not everybody can assey gold and tell the difference.
    • You're going to need guns and ammo (damn it!)
    • ... and a bullet proof vest! The author claims he would have sold their left testicle for one of these.
Anyway, I'll stop here... worthwhile article to read. Especially for you bunker building guys - you haven't thought of everything (yet).

    Cheers,
    Adeptus

      Your kidding right?

Tony Blair never even got a majority of the popular vote. Flash Gordon didn't dare go to the vote. It wasn't on the publics wishes that we went to war with Iraq or are interfering in Afghanistan.

The only 'good' thing about the British government is that we know what is going to happen next as it's all documented in 1984.

Fight against terror must mean the end of ordinary people's privacy, says ex-security chief

Farewell privacy: Sir David Omand says the Government needs Big Brother powers

Personal data of innocent citizens must be made available to the Government to combat terrorism, according to an influential former security chief.

Sir David Omand, Whitehall's former and security and intelligence coordinator, called for unprecedented Big Brother powers to allow access to private details - including phone records, emails and travel information - to be given to the intelligence services.

Setting out a hugely controversial blueprint for the future of national security he said 'moral rules' about individual privacy would have to be broken.

His 17-page report calls for the creation of a vast state database to gather information about terrorist groups which are increasingly recruiting and operating online.

Edmund Burke, in his Reflections on the Revolution in France, described the result by saying that it led to...

a ferocious dissoluteness in manners, an insolent irreligion in opinions and practices, … laws overturned, tribunals subverted, industry without vigor, commerce expiring … a church pillaged … civil and military anarchy … national bankruptcy.

does that sound familiar? If it doesn't quite now, it looks almost certain that it will do soon.

Returning to the topic of this thread:

During the previous rise in gold and silver prices before the last major correction, funds drove silver and gold prices higher via trades that caused gold and silver price moves to be synchronized. Then they pulled the rug out and prices fell 25%. Then gold and silver traded independently, until recently. Now gold and silver prices are synchronized again. Just an observation.
                  Ed.

I can see how the case of Molson's would come in handy, but what the hell are you going to do with a screwdriver and a roll of duct tape?

BTW, The "Silence is golden. Duct tape is silver." poster reminds me of a Valentine's Day poem I heard:

                      Roses are red,
                      Violets are blue,
                      These are irises,
                      I hope you like them.

Just jumping in here, and to address the question of the topic: Do I detect a double-top forming in the gold market?

I see a top around $1033 US and then a more recent top around $1002 US ( give or take ). Back to Starving Steve's lessons from Hard Knox Univ, why would the market give me a buying opportunity now in the upper $900s ? Why would the market do me a favour now when everything is so darn bullish for gold?

                          Re: Gold...........Which way its going?

I am getting some unusual readings on CAD CEF trading volumes today. Notice 3 large volume spikes in the afternoon. There are 4 transactions registered during 2 hours period that hardly moved the price. Close examination showed that transactions did not register any ask/bid price in Sales and Price history - only volume was registered.

Anybody with knowledge can shed the light how is it possible? Are these short positions? Physical share certificates registrations/transfers from/to brokers? Any thoughts?

Here's one option for duct tape...

3M Canada had a "Duct Tape Workshop" section on their website, but it now has this message on it:

The Duct Tape Workshop is Closed
The Duct Tape Workshop has been closed for some repairs.

Rumour is that they're looking for a screwdriver and a case of Molson's before they try to fix it...;)

And, without question, the ultimate authority on duct tape is Canadian comedian Steve Smith's character Red Green:

Never assume collusion or conspiracy when there are simpler explanations.

"The markets are that place on earth that has been set aside for men to deceive each other". (remark probably made by a woman)

As most traders are men, and men have significant difficulty multitasking (as compared to say women), the markets can usually only support a very few false correlations at a time.

Every now and then everyone gets bored (or on occasion reality intrudes, but this is more rare), and a new false correlation is dreamed up that all the simple minded traders can latch onto as a crutch for their trading.

"Gold has now switched gears once again and instead of following the Dollar up and down, after of course having moved mostly inversely to it for the larger part of the entire bull market in gold, seems to be trading inversely to the US equity markets. In other words, stocks go up, gold goes down. Stocks go down, gold goes up. Gold is keying off of what is perceived to be any bad economic news and moving higher. When the news seems to be somewhat positive, it sells off. "
