BMW, Mercedes Benz To Share Research, Production Facilities To Battle Financial Crisis

Berlin, Germany (AHN) - Luxury car makers BMW and Mercedes Benz are putting aside decades of rivalry by sharing their research and production facilities to battle the financial crisis plaguing the automobile industry.
According to the German weekly Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung the two high-end car markers, which had been talking about pooling their resources for years, are joining forces. A Daimler spokesman did not comment on the report, but said top executives of the Mercedes Benz will make a major announcement when Daimler releases its 2008 financial report on Tuesday at Stuttgart. -
