I have been watching this on TV all day. I believe that I now understand what the problem is.

      Re: Rep. Capuano the comedian

all of the best lines are coming out of Massachuetts.

      the entire markopolos hearing

      Barney Frank, "they hate you"

Capuano: “You come to us today on your bicycles, after buying Girl Scout cookies. And helping out Mother Teresa. Telling us you we’re sorry. We didn’t mean it. We won’t do it again. Tust us.”

“Do you understand this is a little difficult for most of my constituents to take. That you learned you lesson. The same people who … created the mess we’re in. And now you saying sorry, trust us.”

“The problem we have is America doesn’t trust you any more. Start lending the money we gave you.”

Stephen Lynch's every appearance in the financial services committee.

Someone ought to inform Capuano that without securitization, at least half of the loan supply side has dried up and than maybe he'll stop telling the good people of Somerville that his ordering the banks to loan money is going to make a difference.

Re: Mel Brooks: It's good being the king

And it's good being a banker

listen to a self-important, vote-grubbing cherub[*] chew you out for 5 minutes, get paid $$$$$$

Nice work, if you can get it.
[*] a cherub in a 3 piece suit & tie. Like that Russian comedian used to say, "wadda country"

All in all, I loved Capuano's rant.

He said, "I've got people in my district that have robbed your banks. And they say let me out, we won't do it again." Comparing them to the CEOs promising not to screw up again.

He also talked about wanting to look at prosecutions.

how many of those banks donated to Capuano? many I bet, was it all their fault? no im sure government is more to blame...

By far one of the worst parts of this banking system failure is the self grandizing congressmen, if anything I hope the american public does not buy their bullshit.
