I can remember dealing with auto salesmen who scorned a cash sale. The oversupply of vehicles may now present opportunity for many with cash. I suppose bankrupt dealerships might be a good place to start.

First, auto companies may have to clear inventory of certain vehicles which will never again be seen at that price. So, there could be a once in a lifetime price on some vehicles. Once the inventories are cleared, the vehicle may be never be made again or only in limited supply.

Secondly, if one were to know which vehicles were overstocked and MUST be cleared, it would be a huge advantage. If such data were available and could be centralized on a web site, it could be an interesting opportunity. I hope someone starts such a website.

I bought my first new car in years a while ago but before doing it I did a lot of research including reading
Confessions of a Car Salesman by a guy who went undercover at a car dealership:

There are some other good articles at that site. I have no interest in Edmunds. The autoligopoly must go nuts when they see this stuff on the Internet.
