  • Massachusetts man selling his debt on eBay for thank-you cards

This listing was pulled by Ebay, but it was real and was been captured by several blogs. Boston Gals

    His eBay listing:
I'm an engineer in the Massachusetts area. I've been supporting my new young family for 3 years now and working many many late nights and weekends of overtime to do this. Well, after "making" it for several years, work has dried up for me. My wife just got a job to help out, and now she is out of work. We have no income right now (as of 1/2009). I just missed my first mortgage payment on our town house, and am afraid we'll miss another as I'm desperately searching for a job. I'm even looking across the country for jobs even if I have to relocate... I'm trying everything I can.

My credit card debt sits at around $22,000 and its growing now because of late fees and penalties. My stock investments are down to $0 so, I can't even rely on the money I put away for investments for the future. My savings is down to $0 just trying to stay afloat for the past 2 months. Buy buying thank yous from me.. you'll be helping support us.

Feel free to contact me for more information about us or what is currently going on.. I'll even add my skype name to chat when I have a second: direxiv

I'm 29 with a college education in Mechanical Engineering, my wife is 26 with a college eduction in Interior Design, and my daughter is 2 years old.

I've made this auction for 2500 items at a starting price of $10 for each. So, if I can get a total number of bidders of 2500 at $10 each, I'll have made enough to cover all debt and fees by the time it's all said and done. I would use buy it now, but I can't for multiple listings.

What you'll receive for this auction? Each winner will get a picture of our family and a thank you card for helping us out in our time of need. So, in reality, that is what you'll get for bidding on this.

Thank you to all bidders and God bless everyone who is going through this type of situation.......

The question is why was this pulled from e-bay. I don't think it would have been pulled if it was not a scam -- or maybe it was pulled while e-bay checked the veracity of the claims.

I believe they have a web page up and running now!

But the website has not been updated since Jan 7th

Maybe Obama and his friends ought to tell the wall streeters et al and their companies to do the same creative thinking this man has done rather than receive taxpayer dollars in the new 'bailout the banks' program coming to us this Monday.

Anybody wanta contribute to the banksters? Maybe we ought to tell our congressmen. The way the political and economic 'leadership' has been executing their responsibility over the past thirty years will make beggars of us all.

I don't know bout most of you but we're seeing more and more scams come through the mail and phone than ever before. And even when you're on top of it, it still gets by ya. I saw a relative young and decently dressed woman standing in the cold with a baby carriage and a sign requesting help. So I gave her a twenty and then looked down at the baby. It was a sleeping bag and other stuff but the carriage worked to perfection on me. I've given to the large national 'relief' companies also and been bitterly disappointed in their fiscal behavior. So I'm down to giving to the local food store that I know sends food to the local folks in need. I'm so pissed off that I can't trust anybody because the stench of scamming has 'trickled down' from the top to the bottom of this society's ladder. And I hate that.

If you read the Thread: "Family cars abandoned at Dubai airport by fleeing expats", this is what may begin to happen in America. Americans may begin to see no way out and just default. Some may choose to get out of Dodge or go Underground.

Can the Court System then handle the massive defaults? I think not. It certainly now cannot handle the Foreclosures. We already have a form of Judicial Anarchy, where the Courts cannot handle the foreclosures and where the Judicial System either does not have the resources or the willingness to prosecute the Criminals who brought the crisis on.

There is an expression which describes this: Failed State.

If i could just "Chip in":-

On a British Website we have a woman whom works at a Porsche dealership. Trade is off a cliff, but whats shocking is the people coming in & trying to buy a Porsche.

Most are known to the company as they had lease hire Porsche...........but that trade has all but died. If you want one your got to be able to BUY one.

They don't have cash, so its credit............whats shocking is these people are "Professionals" but they are "Maxed out". 2nd Mortage, tens of thousands of pounds on their (Many) credit cards...........you won't lend these people $10!

            ................nor (Now) will the banks.

            Mike
