A good read, what strikes me is this, if your not a bankupt soon to be has been Super power, you don't need to TAX to hell & back to prop up your Armed forces or crubbling Econ-system.

    The WEST is STUFFED!

Very soon India will follow China and do as Schiff sez.....

        Re: Tax free India!

Another draw for India outsourcing is the country's vast population of well-trained, skilled workers, whose wages are much lower than U.S. workers. India is home to 229 universities and 458 engineering colleges.
Ten years ago I would have said that only 10% of those engineering colleges produce graduates whos degree is worth the paper it's printed on.
Lack of resources was the primary problem. Motivated students had no access to good faculty, libraries or computers for deeper study. Now with Internet access being common place, and with availability of cheap (open source or pirated) software along with free high quality content from institutes such as MIT, Stanford and Berkeley, I would guess the percentage of skilled graduates is much higher.

There was also a brain drain from India, with the best and brightest students leaving the country for better opportunities in the West, but this seems to have reversed, with even graduates from the prestigious IITs preferring to stay in India now.

Indians do lack the culture of questioning and independent thinking which leads to much technological innovation in the West. The out source work they are doing now is by and large low level grunt work, with the higher level design being done in the US. But it is only a matter of time before they learn and move up the technology ladder. India's indigenous supercomputers and space programs are good examples of this. Meanwhile, it is getting harder for fresh US grads to find entry level jobs and get their foot in the door of an engineering career.

Along with the issues you have mentioned, there is a reluctance on part of the Indian Middle Classes (to whom the vast majority of these Engineers belong) to "get their hands dirty" -- in other words they have little or no ability to work with their hands -- The "Dirty Work" is left to "workmen" who to a large extent are very poorly trained, and even if trained are rarely equipped with the right tooling

At some point there has to be a customer for all this engineering. With the demise of the West, I would not expect this growth trend in Indian engineering to continue at the same rate.
