Bingo! Armies of manipulated masses, riled-up by trained local leaders,
ready to descend on anyone who does not comply with whatever agenda
is sent down from DC HQ.

Ever seen this graphic of a vice?

Bush gave us the top half of the vice, Obama is providing the lower half. This
resembles the Communist tactic of pressure from above and pressure
from below, described by Communist historian Jan Kozak (a member of the
Czechoslovakian Communist Party Central Committee) as the technique
used by the Reds to capture control of Czechoslovakia.

"And Not a Shot is Fired," by Jan Kozak, explains how the people of Czechoslovakia were manipulated into voting themselves into slavery. Through targeted mass agitation, a free government was transformed into a totalitarian dictatorship.
Spot on, although the Obama Kool-Aid drinkers here will have none of it.

Figures don't lie, the radical left has taken over Washington! Geithner is Che in a suit.

      Let me add a few:

80% of AIG to the government and 80% of the government to ACORN.

From Media Matters comes this little tidbit of truth.

Summary: A San Francisco Chronicle article reported the false claim that $4.19 billion of President Barack Obama's economic recovery plan "would go to the liberal housing activist group ACORN." In fact, the bill does not mention ACORN or otherwise single it out for funding.
Maybe iTulip needs to create a new Wingnut category (notice I make no distinction between right or left wingnuts) to supplant the Rant and Rave category. That way the trolls can duke it out as they please and the rest of us can discuss and seek to understand what is really happening. For me, reality is plenty disturbing ... Stridency does nothing to improve the discussion.

I made an attempt. See post 8 above. The Newsmax.com headline is ridiculous.

Maybe a misinformation category? I find deliberate attempts to misinform to be more offensive than an occasional rude remark. I can understand how loosing your temper can lead to rudeness, but dishonesty goes to the root of ones character.

We have not received neighborhood stabilization funds, have no plans to apply for such funds, and didn't weigh in on the pending rule changes.
ACORN does not do the work for which this money is allocated.

Just look at the example in this thread:
                      • it's not acceptable to link to just any media article on the Internet, one must not link to articles from certain sources without having that information being referred to as wingnut.
                      • not only is inappropriate media references inappropriate, but it is now dishonest, exhibiting inappropriate traits about ones character.
                      • further, it's okay to be rude to another individual, that's acceptable, but linking to inappropriate media articles is inherently dishonest and a bigger crime than occasional rudeness.

These are all examples of the "pressure from below" Pincers Strategy that Jan Kozak experienced in Czechoslovakia and wrote about in his book, referenced here. I posted a 1-page handout on the strategy here.

It's about correct speech, correct thought, correct action.... with these defined and stipulated by individuals and organizations attempting to impose their will onto others. Unfortunately, what no one sees is that this will is manipulated through sophisticated techniques of propaganda which is funded from above. This is only wingnut to those who have not experienced it or those that have not researched it.
I'm sorry politicalfootballfan, but you misunderstood my posting. I was making a general statement that I would find a deliberate posting of misinformation to be dishonest and that I find dishonesty not to be a desirable characteristic. I was not referring to anyone in particular, especially anyone here at iTulip.

I'm not sure why you would think that anyone would consider your posting, that a $5.2 billion appropriation was made to ACORN, to be misleading in any way. I really don't understand the Pincers strategy stuff, but since this is an economics forum, I think I'll just stay with the economics discussions.

Please except my most humble apology if I've upset you in any way.

We're cleaning up. First we hired The Bouncer to enforce our civility rules. Next we're going to block wingnut/conspiracy sites because with over 200 posts per day we don't have time to edit or move threads around every time one of our members refers to one.

                        Let's start a list:

                        newsmax.com
                        larouchepub.com
                        ...
                        Ed.

It's not that no one 'likes' them. It's that they're so thoroughly discredited that they shouldn't be used as a reference.
