  • Evelyn de Rothschild

It's a sign of these extraordinary times when a Rothschild steps out onto the plebian stage to warn against impending financial catastrophe. Seems to be the old banker scolding the pathological greed of the nouveau riche. Hey if you want to build enduring wealth, you need four centuries of compounding. Seriously, why now? Why is HE addressing us? There are no coincidences in super high finance and this guy's usually allergic to cameras.

What is this, a veiled warning to the masses? He seems to be signalling the collapse of the fiat superstructure (as if further signals are necessary). And he's in T-bills and of course gold bars! (I love the off-handed way he mentions gold bars --like so many bars of soap lol). Anyone have a link to his Op Ed piece that CNBC references?

"...it's financial instruments. If you do not regulate them, and you let everyone do what they want to do, then you are bound sometimes to get trouble which ensues; and that is what has happened."

Ha ha ha... What no mere mortal sheep will say is this to them: WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TO REGULATE ME!!!

Of course it is bad to let everyone do what they want to do for those that perpetrate a vile fraud on the entire human race, we cannot let everyone think that they are not bound to respect the false rules that enslave even the most wealthy puppets.

Time is coming Evelyn, Babylon will not rise again.

Thank you for not getting into all the Illuminati patter. The old banking families will no doubt advantage themselves in the coming fiat collapse. They are masters at prevailing during calamitous times.

So even with a precipitous shrinkage in the global economy, the folks on top will remain on top. They will just preside over a smaller pie. Earthly power is a zero-sum pie and they'll still own the pie, right? At one point he bemoans the present era's proliferation of banks. Hints of a consolidation strategy? Most modern-day banks are built on mountains of paper, not vaults of gold. So they are essentially creatures of imaginary numbers. Their fate is tied to fiat instruments. My sense is the very highest echelons of wealth (.01%) will more than survive. However the top 2% will get decimated. Thus to this .01%, the bailing out of paper banks by paper governments is a kabuki dance --highly stylized nonsense.

As for the rest of us, well, the democratization of prosperity was a fascinating experiment, great while it lasted. I for one am gonna miss it terribly!

What is prosperity, though? Huge houses, huge cars, huge TVs, and other trivial things?

"There are now only 5 nations on the world left without a Rothschild controlled
central bank: Iran; North Korea; Sudan; Cuba; and Libya."

From Niall Ferguson, author of two volumes about the prominent Rothschild family:

The House of Rothschild: Volume 1: Money's Prophets: 1798–1848

Those two volumes total 1216 pages. And I thought The House of Morgan: An American Banking Dynasty and the Rise of Modern Finance by Ron Chernow was long at 832 pages. Life sure is eventful for robber barons.

Thank you D-Mack. Fascinating! A lecture on inadequate 'transparency' from a banking entity practically synonymous with secrecy and intrigue. But they are them. And we are us. So in that context I suppose his point is well-taken.

The fact that he has chosen this moment for such a stern and unvarnished dressing-down is yet another barometer reading on the seriousness of the situation.

It is a girl's name normally.

I'm sort of fond of how Maria Bartiromo says it... Evil-in-da-Rothschild. Sort of the Exorcist meets Boyz in da hood.

I suppose it's a bit conspiratorial sounding but did anyone else wonder why Rothschild would give up it's chair at the gold price setting table after 200 years?

One thing I was always pretty sure was inaccurate, and that was forbe's list of the worlds wealthiest people. When you see pictures of the Gate's and Buffet's of the world flying in to visit with the Rothschilds, I think it's safe to assume who the alpha male is.

Who's the guy with the Tranche Coat and Brollie in the background about 2:10? My LeCarre tells me that's traditional Spook Wear.

Anyhow, Evelyn can't be doing too well, that's an off the rack suit. What's next Fried Bread for breakfast?

We filmed one night when Jacob held a dinner to mark the 150th anniversary of Château Mouton Rothschild, the wine. You suddenly became aware of the spread of Rothschild power and influence. They've got the world's best wines, some of the world's best-known and most powerful banks, several of the world's richest people and they were all converging in one night on this unlikely house on a hill in Buckinghamshire. You were conscious of being in a wholly different world.
It was summed up for me when Jacob Rothschild rose to make his speech in front of this array of intelligent, acute faces. He said he'd recently received one of the rudest letters of his life from his cousin Philippine, in whose honour this dinner was being held. She was furious with him because he'd not come to one of the events that were marking the anniversary of the wine. She had also sent a letter to Evelyn who runs NM Rothschild, the family bank.
He said, "Evelyn's excuse was better than mine - he was selling the family bank to our French cousins and we must raise a glass to that. My excuse was that I was simply giving dinner to the Queen and President Putin. Philippine replied, 'Put them off! Put them off!'" In that one brief interchange you got a whiff of history: presidents, kings and queens may come and go but the Rothschilds are forever.
Justice is the cornerstone of the world
