  • TARP Li$t Of Bailees

    Approximately 230 politically influential companies.

    http://www.usatoday.com/money/economy/tarp-chart.htm

    My two questions:

    1. Why was it so important to bail out
Tennessee Valley Financial Holdings, Inc. Oak Ridge TN 3,000,000?
A loss of $3M certainly would not bring our Financial World to an end.
Many other companies received small amounts, indicating to me very Large Political Mojo by someone involved with those companies.

    2. Who are the principals of
Saigon National Bank Westminster CA 1,549,000?
    Do they have dual citizenship?

I hope some enterprising folk will set up a site for the TARP and other FED Window ripoffs with all the juicy details. There should certainly be a large demand by outraged and victimized citizens for such a product.

From the NY Times, Jan 17:

"At the Palm Beach Ritz-Carlton last November, John C. Hope III, the chairman of Whitney National Bank in New Orleans, stood before a ballroom full of Wall Street analysts and explained how his bank intended to use its $300 million in federal bailout money.

“Make more loans?” Mr. Hope said. “We’re not going to change our business model or our credit policies to accommodate the needs of the public sector as they see it to have us make more loans.”...

I stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Whitney Bank after Hurricane Katrina in a show of support for Katrina victims, but those days are over. I'm closing my accounts there.

I had accounts at Whitney Bank for years - my payroll check was deposited in a checking account there, I had CD's, etc.

Hurricane Katrina knocked out their computer/ATM system for a couple of weeks and I couldn't access cash. Not only that, but I had to worry about how long it would take my checks to clear. I had to go over to their Houston branch every week for a month after Katrina to track things.

To say I am annoyed is an understatement.

For my small local bank, the bailout funds are being used to open new locations and expand the bank's portfolio. They didn't need the money!
Banksters are greedy and my local banksters couldn't turn down a nice federal sack.
