At least they aren't telling you how long you can shower..
Apparently, things are so bad in Singapore that the government is encouraging people to shower less;

Originally posted by lurkerHe's a bit late with that call IMO. We pulled all of our life savings from the UK to the US at around $2 to the pound, at a time when many thought that sterling would appreciate further against the pound.

Re: Jim Rogers on the UK !
I shorted Sterling back in April. It was comfortably at $2 back then. I've been a bear on Sterling for a very long time.
Rogers is very late in making this call. It amazes me that he never called it publicly because it was even more obvious than the doomsday scenario with the US Dollar. However, I feel that his recent views show that he had possibly thought this through a long time ago - especially his point that with oil reserves in the North Sea dropping so much, UK forex earnings will dwindle further.
He is actually being overly cautious in saying that Sterling will disappear in a decade. That's a joke I'm sure. It will be in the toilet way before then.
I don't really know what the best way to play Sterling's decline is. I think that back in late '07, one could have got some nice put options on Sterling but now the market may be pricing in some severe declines and the premiums may be too high.
Britain is fundamentally bankrupt and they will find it harder to find a saviour this time than in '76 when the IMF bailed them out.
