Japan’s Mazda Motor Corp announced that it will reduce the use of precious metal in emission-cleaning with the support of new technology.
Mazda said the company will introduce technology that would slash the amount of precious metals used in emission-cleaning catalysts by 70 per cent in the new Mazda3 model, due for sales globally this year.

Platinum is used to make catalytic converters that control emissions from vehicle tailpipes, and it’s a key ingredient in the production of fuel cells, which rely on platinum as a catalyst for chemical reactions.
