floyd norris, at the ny times website: James Bond vs. the Short Sellers

Just how evil are short sellers? Ask James Bond.

The new Bond movie, “Casino Royale,” features a villain who plans to make $100 million by short-selling a stock and then blowing up the company’s prototype product, which we are told would bankrupt the company. Bond foils the nefarious plot.

Along the way, it is indicated that short-selling was somehow related to the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, an idea that was raised at the time but never substantiated by investigations.

A generation ago, Bond villians plotted to start nuclear wars and obtain world domination. Now they kill to make a killing in the stock market.

    ------------------
as amusing as this is, it raises dark questions about the scape-goating that will accompany what lies ahead of us.

It is allready here with the cronisim and moronic idealogs of Bush 43; which has finally pushed this country over the edge in debt. Good to see papa come to the rescue with his own cronies to save juniors face with the " Baker " comission :p What a friggin joke; really what new under the sun are they going to come up with ?? Except bring home a few troops; send some up to the new Kurdistan ( to finish building bases and airstrips, and of course to Afghanistan. How ironic we now occupy both countries on either side of Iran.

I can see Bill Gates private security force now; leaving starbucks with tasers in hand, ready to fight it out with Apple and Sony coverts. Wonder who will lead Oprah's security force- a lean mean Phd Phil for sure :p
I one day will run with the big dogs in the world currency markets, and stick it to the man
