    I wonder how much of this stuff (bribes & corruption) goes on but is un-reported and kept as blackmail collateral for future use.

    Was Blogojevich's threat to BOA too much, so his dirt was reveled?

        The theory that following FDR it was decided the US would never again have an executive president is supported by the data. Truman- Kansas City Mob. Eisenhower- lost at sea. Kennedy- thought to be no more than a skirt chaser.
        Etc. Followed by actors, friends and half wits. America's answer to Rome's Caligula and Nero.

        On a more mundane note, running for office above a burg's city council level requires money that insures a candidate 'understands' what's expected of him or her. No understanding, no dinero, no political future. It's in the bag, so to speak
