Fitch slashes ratings as crisis bites

MANAMA: Fitch Ratings yesterday downgraded ratings of a number of GCC banks including TAIB Bank, Gulf International Bank and BBK. The downgrades come as Fitch released a new report, which assesses the growing impact of the global credit crisis on GCC financial institutions...

...Dubai's creditworthiness has deteriorated, despite strong support from the UAE federation, due to the worsened economic outlook and the pressure this will put on Dubai's public finances.

However, Fitch's view of the standalone financial strength of many GCC financial institutions, reflected in the individual rating, has changed as the impact of the global economic crisis spreads into the region...

Yes. And I am amazed at stoopid idiots who believe that gubmint created jobs gave us the highways system and the hoover damn. STOOPID IDIOTS - IT'S A MIRAGE!

Not to mention, where is the constitutional authority for the US gubmint to be involved in patient records?
        /necessary and proper clause

This is all sooooo stoopid. It is *exactly* the failed policies of FDR. Nothing has been learned. Nothing has been properly taught in gubmint schools. So no wonder people are so incredibly brain dead to believe this pablum.

Can anyone explain to me the obsession with building huge cities in deserts? I don't get the attraction or the logic behind it.

Where are we going to get all the steel for these infrastructure projects, China? Apparently most investors think so, or that demand net of cars and other applications will fall like a rock anyway.

We consider it an inexplicable preference.

Re: The next bubble stock picks

Stocks? Long Bond Bubble - I thought the next bubble was already in progress, and I believe it recently went into the stratosphere.

As for predicting the next "next bubble" well I would not be posting here if I knew that.

But if you are a speculator then I think it is much easier to identify the current bubble and try to short it at the top, rather then try to guess the next next bubble.

I think it may have a lot to do with the ease with which the land is built upon (i.e. not a lot of clearing and grading to, generally more flat land to build upon).

I'm a warm weather guy, so to me the hotter climate makes the desert a more desirable place to be. I can see how some would see that differently though.
