“Commodities will be the place to be if and when we come out of” the downturn, Rogers said yesterday in an interview from Miami. “The only thing where fundamentals are unimpaired are commodities. Farmers cannot get loans for fertilizer now. Nobody can get a loan to open a zinc mine. So we are going to have some serious, serious supply problems before too much longer.”

The Reuters/Jefferies CRB Index of 19 commodities has plunged 53 percent from a record in July on concern that a global recession will sap demand for raw materials. The index almost doubled between its low in 2001 and the end of last year.

I don't know about you, but Rogers is starting to sound like this guy.

    Just a flesh wound.

I think he's dead on. If we proceed on this current path, EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING crashes. Not a good way to get re-elected, if you ask me.

What's the motivation and who benefits? Yes some paper pushers will be richer than King Solomon, but do elected officials really want to lose their jobs to benfit some other guy?

I don't disagree, but you can say the same thing about financial companies and home builders. It all depends on your timeframe and how early you want to be, doesn't it?

No, I am not implying anything conspiratorial at all. I am just asking you to think about what each of the participants involved in the transaction are going to do as you complete your transaction. And what will be the implication of those actions on the market as well as on the movement of the physical commodity.

What are the linkages in the whole process between the paper contract and the physical commodity.

I thought about that a long time ago.

The certainty of my death remains unimpaired. Uh okay. Timeframes folks, timeframes...they make the difference between wealth and good talking points.
