What if the increase is 1/10th of a degree per century? I don't think anyone has demonstrated with science that the increase is as large as claimed by the hockey-stick team.

It is important to note that this is an open system - there are many variables operating at the same time. To pretend that we know something that we don't can cause unintended consequences that cost lives.

I have an open mind on the subject although I tend to lean towards the cooling trend.
My main suspicion comes from a bunch of globalists who have wasted no time trying to implement a global tax system where some farmer is taxed on the amount of flatulence his cows produce and other equally ridiculous schemes.
To me this smacks of another attempt to bring all citizens under one taxing authority and erase sovereignty, similar to the upcoming global poverty plan with the U.N. taxing U.S. citizens. Sorry for being so skeptical but I really have lost all ability to give any gov't the benefit of the doubt.

Global warming is a political myth conjured by the elitists to control the human population by reducing the acquisition and use of energy.

Scientific analysis has demonstrated that the Earth was much warmer than it is today about a million years ago. Now humans did not populate the Earth or burn fossil fuels a million years ago, did they? So all the computer models making FUTURE predictions of some mythical warming caused by humans burning fossil fuels are a fantasy.

The Earth has been warming on its own for the last 11,000 years. And thank God that it has because without the Earth warming, humans could have never grown in numbers and populated the Earth. You can't support 7-9 billion humans on mother Earth in an ICE AGE. I pray to God it keeps getting hotter in here!

I'd say "economics" is the biggest lie sold to human kind.

Global warming is based on valid science, it is the corresponding prediction of the future outcomes that is absurd economics-like pseudo science.

On the other hand, all of economics is a "social science". In other words, it is NOT SCIENCE and passing it off as such has directly caused our current problems.

Nothing this EJ dude or anyone else that claims to be an "economist" does states has anything to do with science and is just a guess. Speculation.

My adivce is that to learn investing you first have to understand that everything on this board is "speculation" and "social science" ... although fun to read ... not valid to base investment decisions on.

Ya don't say. Ever wonder what happened to all the anti establishment hippies, flower childs of the 60's? The environmental movements are made up of radicals who would love to see the destruction of society as we know it. Global warming has become their religion and tool to accomplish this.It is a back door attack on capitalism and consumerism that these people despise.

Another embarrassing right wing rant and public display of scientific ignorance that not only discredits Harold Ambler, but harms the Huffington post for publishing the rehashed trash from numerous right wing blogs. Anyone who has taken a junior high science class laughs at his quoting the same old discredited claims by the same old discredited sources.

There is one thing I haven't heard before. I've heard the right wing claims that trees cause global warming, or volcanoes, or sun spots, or lack of sun spots, but the new claim of "cosmic rays" is a good one. I'm not sure why they all start out claiming global warming doesn't exist, then go on to claim all these bizarre natural causes. I guess they have to try and use some scientific terminology to try and quiet the defining roar of laughter at their ridiculous claims.

For anyone who wants to continue to play whack-a-mole with the denialists, here's a point by point rebuttal of this silly column.
