        This is too idiotic.

What is a "world financial regulator"??

Does this OP make any sense?

And his breakup scenario...gosh, but I read the same things time and again, going back hundreds of years...and it was and is meaningless.

US of America *does* have a religion that ties people together. It goes well beyond ethnicity or tribe or religion. It means something because Americans think it means something.

That's what this writer does not quite grasp.

There can (probably will) be a Depression and yet people will still rally around the US of A, namely the country that Lincoln unconstitutionally put together.

I do not see any one replacing US(or dollar) in the very long term. In the short term, it can be otherwise. US business transactions are based on good ethics mostly(derived from either religious or secular laws) and hence credit was so large. Only recently was this credit issued based on bad faith and hence the high default rate. It most other countries there is no confidence and hence only cash settlement is accepted. The Governments are also prone to printing their Currencies . The people of those countries do not trust their own Government, that in times of crisis they hoard dollars and not their paper currency. No Trust and hence no much risk in trying business ventures(a startup like Cisco..). I will place my wealth in a US bank rather than a communist China or a demographic death camp Russia.

In the very long term, I think a bet against US will loose money. US still produces a lot of tangible things like Ag products, Grains, Medicine and Medical Equip, Technology, Telecom, minerals, Universities, Airplanes & Fighter Jets and bombs, Entertainment and Hollywood. Only Cars and Financial Instruments fell off. The faith in US financial market is still better than other countries, where Government are very arbitrary and irrational to it's creditors. US can survive without importing anything except Oil.

UK on the other hand looks very fragile.

I'm pretty sure that for most people the current economic difficulties have been successfully blamed on Bush. I see little to no chance that Obama will ever get tagged with it.

Once the court of public opinion has firmly pinned the blame on you backside, it's neigh on impossible to get it unpinned unless you've got a willing and monopolistic Pravda rewriting history for your benefit.

Those of us who have other theories as to the cause(s) of our current economic problems have to be careful when and how we speak our minds, lest we invite ridicule or censure.

The last disclosure line is a big one. Author of INFORMATION WARFARE books. This reads much like information warfare. Except the part about Russia being a world regulator. That read like satire.

However, I'd be down for a couple more countries where the US was. Maybe some federalist countries and some democratic? Either way, my region is clearly superior to all others.

Everytime I read some Russian doom story for America, I get the sense of "cold war envy". You know, our shit empire collapsed and now yours will too, ohahahahaha. You too will be trading potaotoes for vodka, wohahahahaha!

                You know the story.

I mean the Russia/China rule the world thing gives it completely away. lol. As well as the Alaska comment. I mean come on.

Saying good-bye to the South and those religious-right idiots down there could only be a big big PLUS for the entire North American continent. And let the South take their drug war and their English-only with them. Good riddance! Lincoln was absolutely wrong to keep the South.

I don't buy into the breakup. More likely amalgamation.

Seems like the next logical part of a protracted plan crafted by the Fed & CFR:
                    - Credit to stimulate FIRE economy / delay recession from dot-com bubble
                    - Lengthy Iraq war to increase liquidity, distract/unite
                    - Credit contraction & ultimate economic crisis – including worldwide impact.
                    - Biden's comments re: Obama being tested early on
                    - Gold on the rise
                    - Talk of new financial system
                    - Devalue USD

                    Security & Prosperity Partnership
                    - Mexican labor market & wage rates
                    - Canadian resources
                    - Common currency – The Amero

Perhaps Jim Rogers move to Singapore was timely?

Thank God I just moved to the South this last year, before the border closes .

Glad you made it before they close the border. About 6 months after I moved here in 1976 I thought we ought to put up a big wall at the NC/Virginia border to keep all the Yankees out!

Prof. Panarin is an asshat. His country is in much worse shape than ours, and parts of it are very likely to be overrun by Islamacists or the Chinese in the future, if they don't turn their birthrates around. Not that the US won't be going through rough times, but our demise is not imminent.

I bet the folks down there will make out a lot better during the coming hard times than the Mexifornians and the lotus-eating ex-hippie/yuppies that haven't yet emigrated to the surrounding states.

Considering the state of the U.S. economy right now and the state of the Russian economy, my bet for economic survival would be in favour of the Russian economy right now. My bet would be in favour of the ruble, not the dollar.

Russia has oil and gas for export. What does the U.S. have? --- toxic mortgages and solar power?
