Re: Paul Farrell : Great Dep 2 by 2011
The article is dead on the money. Thank you for an excellent post.
The notion that spending can go on forever and that no-one has to pay taxes or pay-back anything is straight out of Reaganomics and Arthur Laffer's supply-side economics. This rubbish that "deficits don't count" or that "we can grow our way out of any deficits" is pure Reagan-Laffer crappola.
And Greenspan was so intoxicated with this Republican crap that he failed to deflate the bubble economy. He failed to act. So now we have the Panic of 2008 and economic disaster.
We need to clean-out the economics departments of the major world universities. This kind of economic thinking is a disgrace.

That's also my take on this.
I have a very good friend, a prominent political science professor here in Paris. I love him, brilliant mind, until he tells me : "Reagan has been the great steward of US economy. Clinton just had luck to come after him."
When he begins like that, we're not friend anymore.
History will ultimately be very harsh with Reaganomics.
And of course the GOP (Ghetto Of the Pissed-of) will pursue their frivolous
proceedings like these :

What else ?
Remind me the story a friend of mine (a captain flying for Lufthansa) told me. They had an engine problem. A passenger declared loudly he would sue the company. The stewarded replied to him, even more loudly : "Sit down, sir, shut up and stay put. If we shall die, we shall die quickly." He shut up.
Capito, GOP ?
P.S. : My captain friend landed safely, masterly. Every passenger went to congratulate him. Except the bloody bastard. Must have been Newt Gingrich.
