Looking at path #1 for the DOW reverting to its real long-term (CPI-urban) value along the curve of 1.64% inflation, this would seem to suggest about half of the peak value of the DOW at roughly its peak of 14,000, so about 7000. In other words, we are fast approaching the goal of a DOW deflated back to its real long-term worth.

Am I right?

Bet it goes to 4240 jmho. Everything overshots in each direction - just from my observation over time. What do U see?

In October, Roubini called for the market to bottom in 2009 with the Dow going down to 7000.

I like "Ro-be" but he beem very conserative in his thoughts. I guess 5500 to 5750 ish.

BTW *Schiff" sez BUY now (Not US stocks).

I am flabbergasted. My confidence in America's financial institutions has been shaken.

So what comes next? A run on the dollar?

Wouldn't that be something: after the treasuries bubble bursts, the dollar collapses sending interest rates to the moon? :eek:
