  • How will Obama be 'tested'?

Apparently Obama is going to be 'tested' in the first few months of his presidency / during the transition.

It took until Sept 11 for Bush to get tested.

Any ideas anyone? You'd think the US would be a little vulnerable to a bad terrorist attack right now.

If I was a betting man I'd bet on domestic terrorism...easier to believe because of what you said above and gives a great excuse for unconstitutional law to pass.

...oh and don't forget April 19 is a symbolic day and is roughly 100 days in.

Isn't the collapse of the worlds economy and a looming depression a big enough test?

          I was referring to this:

Biden: "Obama Will be 'Tested' by World in First 6 Months of Administration"

I think it's interesting. Historically, this is pretty typical. Some big happening in the first few months of the administration.

Given what's going on right now in the economy, such a test could push things over the edge.

Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. And he's gonna have to make some really tough...

Nuclear incident would make 9/11 'insignificant': nuke commission
by Madeleine Coorey – Tue Oct 21, 3:28 am ET

Evans, a former Australia foreign minister, said the world had been "sleepwalking" on the issue of atomic weapons for a decade.

"The devastation that could be wreaked by one major nuclear weapons incident alone puts 9/11 and almost everything else (in) to the category of the insignificant," he said, referring to the attacks inflicted on the United States in 2001.

Don't forget Biden as a long time Bilderberg member wasn't bad at hinting at 911 before it.

Before 9/11, the Bush administration’s national security focus was on missile defense, not terrorism. In fact, on 9/11, then-National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice was set to deliver a speech that focused “largely on missile defense.” Writing at the Huffington Post, Joe Cirincione — president of the Ploughshares Fund — recalls this quote from Sen. Joseph Biden (D-DE) on Sept. 10, 2001, warning against the Bush administration’s approach:
We will have diverted all that money to address the least likely threat while the real threats come into this country in the hold of a ship, or the belly of a plane, or are smuggled into a city in the middle of the night in a vial in a backpack.

Cirincione writes, “If George Bush had listened to Joe Biden instead of Donald Rumsfeld, the history of the past seven years would have been very different. We might have prevented 9/11.”

            Also PNAC is up again

            Nov 10th, 2008

Project For A New American Century 2.0.»

Matt Duss reports, “It looks like Bill Kristol may be making good on his threat to revive the Project for the New American Century. Since May, visitors to PNAC’s website were informed that ‘this account has been suspended,’ but now the website is back up, though it does not seem to have been updated with any new material.” Duss speculates that PNAC’s reincarnation may serve to boost the future prospects of Sarah Palin.

Moscow denies Pentagon claims of 'stolen' Russian nuclear weapons

MOSCOW, October 31 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Foreign Ministry denied on Friday claims by the U.S. defense secretary that large amounts of Russian nuclear weapons had been stolen or misplaced.

Speaking in Washington on Tuesday at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Robert Gates expressed concern that some Russian nuclear weapons from the former Soviet arsenal may not be fully accounted for.

"I have fairly high confidence that no strategic or modern tactical nuclear weapons have leaked beyond Russian borders," Gates said.

"What worries me are the tens of thousands of old nuclear mines, nuclear artillery shells and so on, because the reality is the Russians themselves probably don't have any idea how many of those they have or, potentially, where they are," he added.

I noticed in last nights interview with 60 minutes, when asked what were his top priorities during the transition, President Elect Obama said National Security. This took me by surprise. During the biggest economic crises of our life time, national security was top priority. This was certainly not the case in the Bush transition. This makes me believe he has been briefed with some information that has him very concerned.

Or maybe he knows the election is over, he's already won the "who can best manage the economy" debate, and it's time time to focus on those issues where the American people may still harbour some doubts about him?

That's what I would expect an astute politician to do. And Obama is, above everything else, an astute politician.

Or the other path of the astute politician: when the train in the economic tunnel approaches - distract people by pointing out: "Look! Over There!"

Funny, isn't that what Bush did with 9/11?

Everybody calm down and take it easy. Go buy a six pack and a new high definition big screen t.v. and everything will be just fine. Everything is just fine. It's all going to be okay, go back to sleep now.

Who cares how Obama is tested. . .It's all kabuki, anywho. This fellow was vetted by the national political/economic elite: I wouldn't be expecting "change." Welcome to the new boss: same as the old boss.

                            Prepare to get "fooled" again.
