Mega: It's bad enough that you feel compelled to start a new thread for every item you deem worthy of posting...now you are starting to recycle your thread titles nearly verbatim. Enough already...

Hmm ... let me guess ... GRG55 does not subscribe to any tabloids. Right ?

At least for today, I still see 992$ in dollars. No spike there, just the recent run up and then fall.

i got a friend, who has borrowed 400,000 Canadian dollars for his son to study medicine at Cambridge Medical School. How can he hedge against the scenario of a declining sterling?

Oh, well. You didn't factor in option expirations. Tricky World.

I assume he borrowed Canuck bucks because his banking relationships and income are Canadian based? If he expects sterling to decline, and therefore with it the real price of his son's education, why wouldn't he just keep the borrowed money in Canadian Dollars? His better bet would have been to borrow in sterling and pay it back out of Canadian $ income [assuming the currency movement expectation plays out over the multiple years his son is in school].

i should have been more specific... by spike i mean months not yesterday.

price changes in a day mean nothing & over a few months mean slightly more than nothing... only price changes that happen over years have meaning.
