    Do you really believe the Average Joe has any benefit from the "global superpower" status of US ? Well... besides the benefit of being allowed to die fighting imperial wars in remote and exotic places like Vietnam, Beirut, Iraq, Afghanistan etc. ;)

    The "global superpower" status is a benefit only for the financial elite and allows them to use the state as a tool for promotion of financial neo-colonialism.

    IMHO, only when the desire to be a global superpower is rejected by the People, can the USA have a sound and robust industrial monetary policy. Until then is just a giant scam for the benefit of a few and free market capitalism is replaced with a terrible masquerade.
    Don't you think the Average Joe benefitted from America's superpower status (in the short term, at least) by being able to consume more and produce less? Seems to me that "dollar hegemony" allowed AJ to drive big cars, buy big houses, and watch big TVs -- spending other people's savings. Also, lets not forget that AJ's government does provide some public services and entitlements -- and AJ didn't have to foot the bill for all that through taxes, because dollar hegemony made it possible for his government to borrow cheaply, as well. I don't dispute that the lasting benefits probably accrued to a much more narrow slice of the population, but am I really off base saying that Average Joe did enjoy some short-term benefits from America's superpower status?

    Plus, you know -- Average Joe has jingoist tendancies sometimes. Utility is where you find it, and who is to say that AJ didn't truly relish chanting "USA! USA! USA!".

        Boy howdy.
        My candle burns at both ends;
        It will not last the night;
        But, ah, my foes, and, oh, my friends --
        It gives a lovely light.

          You are right. See here how he enjoys his big house, big TV etc:

          Ok I have to give you that. The government does provide entitlements (such as the $700 bil bailouts for Wall Street banks and tax cuts for golden parachutes- all payed by Average Joe) and some public services (such as a healthcare system for the Average Joe, which has become the laughing stock of communist Cuba)

          Here you have a point. The parasitic infection has produced a higher metabolic rate in the economy. But why would Average Joe need something like that? He would have done much better without it. See the second part of this paper:
          Fractional Reserve Banking as Economic Parasitism

          If you don't have warm clothes would you better get a pneumonia with high fever to feel warmer?

          That is true. Let me give you a c1lue: also Average Ivan has also jingoistic tendencies and this summer he truly relished chanting: "Putin! Rossia!" dreaming at the superpower status of the Great Soviet Union.

          Or look at the Average Li and his olympic jingoism. Same crap, same idiocy. Maybe we are truly just one world...:rolleyes:
