    Re: From the Trenches

Those who work on the base — or are married to someone who does — seemed as reliably Republican as the state of Nebraska itself. “Obama is the anti-Christ,” said Jessie Puglisi, 22, whose husband is an airman. “I don’t really agree with any of his policies. My husband feels the same way. He won’t even buy a magazine if Obama’s face is on it. We hang out with a lot of military people, and they all feel the same way.”

Paula Banks, 34, pushed her shopping cart into the local WalMart before a rain shower began, and reflected the view of many conservatives, that Ms. Palin on the ticket is what assured her. “I was already kind of on the McCain side, but I had a little unsureness, and she just pushed me over.”
When you've got well informed, deep thinkers like this walking into the voting booth, Well, it pretty much explains the disaster we're all facing.

Now you see why the elites have no pity? Can you pity sheeple?

It's not about pity, it's about comedy.

The stupidity of the people who spout about how evil candidate X is because they like party Y, then the stupidity of the people who spout about how stupid the original spouter is because they support party X, (rinse, repeat) must have them laughing like hyenas.

The elites likely look at "the people" as something like shoving two violent, mentally handicapped children hopped up on meth into a ring, telling each the other hates their mommy and daddy, and then watching the fun.

Conservatives. Liberals. In reality they're all Neo-Liberals. When a global hegemon conducts domestic business via a two-party democratic republic superstructure, there's no place for one of them to be a Conservative party.

Limit foreign entanglements. Ditto military adventurism. Fiscal restrain at home. Where have we seen this choice? Pre-Great Depression?

What we really have is a pair of twins that slice and dice the minutia. The Culture Wars were created to give them something to argue about. Otherwise even the purposely dumbed down general electorate might catch on.

          Robert Rubin vs Phil Gramm.

          Right.
