Yup, this is how the American Revolution started. You may say I'm cynical and I'm disrespectful or unpatriotic, but let's face it for Pete's sake, the Lexington and Concord battle, if you peel of all the legend heroics, was nothing else than a gun control operation which went FUBAR.

The british troops wanted to confiscate militia held artillery (not rifles and muskets: they wanted the cannons) and barrels of gunpowder stocked in militia armories (the ammo for those cannons). They were not after private owned muskets, rifles and pistols, and they didn't want to disarm or dismantle the militia.

Well... those proto-gun rights activists of the Massachusetts had ... a different opinion.. and the rest is history. How many of those minutemen do you think were able to read and write? ... how many of them do you think were the signatories of the Declaration of Independence ? I guess not many ...

It doesn't take a PhD in Semiotics and Axilology to fire the first "shot heard around the world" ... by the contrary ... all is needed is a major f!&$-up in which angry citizens are pitted against incompetent law enforcement of an unpopular government ...

That's why I'm saying the situation is grave and serious ...
