In Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, homeless groups have paired with non-profit or faith-based groups to manage tent cities as outdoor shelters.

As I said once before when this topic came up...

Ours has been around for a few years and is well-established and semi-official.

So I'm a little skeptical about how many homeless tent cities in the US are a direct, and recent, result of the housing crash and how many have actually been around for a long time in one form or another.

The media likes to paint with a wide hyperbolic brush, methinks.
