Up till now savers were thrown under the bus. Now they're to be tied to the grill as it plunges over the cliff.

This just in from the Onion newswire services!

Helicopter Ben Bernanke has just announced in conjunction with the European Large Hadron Collider project, that the Federal Reserve has decided to unleash it's new multidimensional nuclear powered currency printing press! With the capacity to cover lower Manhattan with $1000 bills 6" deep in a matter of seconds, it is the newest of a line of star wars liquidity weapons that have been secretly developed by the Federal Reserve.

Witnesses claim that debt and credit bubbles will stand no chance against the awesum power released when Ben fires up this weapon. Other witnesses have reported rumers of secret paper mills working 24 hours a day, and the disappearence of large tracts of forests in preperation of the upcoming onslaught.

The Federal Reserve apparently has decided to go down this path since the old techniques of "growing money on trees" and "pennies from heaven" simply cannot meet the needs of the new FIRE economy.

Very Nice! Should we offer a blind fold and cigerret while they are tied to the grill?

No worries ... no one can get the bus started anyway.

Henry M. Paulson Jr. said that consumers should remain confident about the soundness of the American financial system.

              italic added.

That is truly amazing isn't it.....they still think the answer to the problems is the consumer spending even more and creating more debt! Cheesh! (Bangs head on desk!)
