I heard about this last night on NPR. I think it is being covered quite widely.

This is from the CNN website -- that's about as mainstream as you can get.

This would be more worrisome than Iran only if public displeasure at the violation of Pakistani sovereignty were to somehow bring down the central government. I haven't seen anything (yet) that suggests this is likely. In the first place, the Pakistani government doesn't exercise sovereign control over that border area, which is exactly why the Taliban can use it as a refuge, and is also why these operations occur. Moreover, we've been firing and bombing across that border for some time now -- this escalation came immediately after a meeting between the most senior military leaders of America and Pakistan, so it is most probably within the bounds of a new agreement. My impression is that the twin institutions of the military and security services are strong enough in Pakistan that there's no immediate danger of the country falling apart.

I just checked CNN and Fox for a few minutes and it is not being discussed on television yet. But American msm is covering it. Look around a bit.

      Some more coverage:

New York Times put it on the front page today (print).

Sky News has quotes from locals on the raid.

The Telegraph has anonymous senior U.S. military official acknowledging the raid.

AFP has quotes from U.S. spokeswoman:

"In regards to the reports about that incident, we have not commented, and I won't today," she told reporters. "I'm just not going to comment on the incident in any way."

The Associated Press describes the Pakistani Parliament condemnation, but offers little in terms of details.

      more from the region:

A.P. : Afghan leader vows punishment for deadly US raid (previous raid conducted on 08/22)

Bloomberg: Pakistani Military Kills 10 Rebels in Swat Valley Offensive

Reuters India: Four killed in suspected US drone attack in Pakistan

Pakistan is a failed state: there's nothing to break.

They are not yet a failed state like Somalia. There is still something like a monopoly of force (albeit not in the tribal regions), and the men with guns are still following orders from a single source. I think there is still something to break. The Pakistani military in charge of some nukes is a lot less dangerous than civil war, rival warlords, or a theocracy.

Only in a country interested in foreign policy, and between major domestic stories, I think.

No you're right there isn't much. With that post you'll note that I included a handful of non-U.S. based sources.

Reading this is the first I've heard of it. Its not that they bury it, but compared to the catfighting going on with the VP pick, and "America's Got Talent", its not newsworthy.
