This is yet another authorization of force resolution. Congress is abdicating their responsibility to make a decision to declare war. Instead, they hide behind these force authorizations, just as they did with Iraq ("oh, but we didn't expect the President to invade until he exhausted all diplomatic options"). These bs force authorizations are also how we had a Vietnam "war" without ever declaring war.
If Congress had to vote on a formal declaration of war on Iran today, they would vote against. Yet they might vote in favor of this bill, which should and will be treated by Iran as a declaration of war. No wonder much of the world considers the United States the greatest threat to world peace. The real axis of evil: White House and Congress. -
