    Hungry People

    Wednesday, June 4, 2008

I went to the store for the first time in about 4 months. I was very surprised by how much the prices have gone up. Some eggs were $4.49 but that is as far as I looked so I don’t know if that was for one or two dozen. Either way it is outrageous.

I have often said that it is all fun and games until the people get hungry. This video shows what is going on in Dover, TN which has one of the highest sales tax in the nation. Recently there have been rice shortages and rationing going on at Sam’s Club and Costco stores throughout the United States. In the not to distant future there may be civil unrest resulting from hungry people.

The cause and effect chain is fairly simple. Fiat currency leads to inflation. Inflation leads to shortages. Shortages lead to rationing. Rationing leads to starvation. Starvation leads to death.

I personally feel everyone should keep at least 3 months of food supply on hand. This should be food regularly eaten and should be rotated through. Also, one can get large 55 gallon drums for water and a plumber can set it up so you will always have a large store of water. This is another wise move to be made.

Preparation is more a lifestyle choice than anything. For help on how to develop that lifestyle I recommend visiting these sites for additional information on provident living with food storage and even including pandemic preparedness planning.

The last time I remember reading so much stuff about hoarding food against the soon to arrive, almost certain disaster was in the very late 1970's as gold was entering the final run to the blow-off. Howard Ruff is one author that comes to mind. He spent the 1970's warning us about "Famine and Survival in America" and "How to Prosper During the Coming Bad Years". Now I see he's at it again. Draw your own conclusions... ;)

Yes, I believe if one really believed stuff like that, one would liquidate everything one could that they could carry or keep in an account, and move way out into the boonies, buy or build a house and take those steps necessary to become self-sufficient for water and electricity and store up some petrol.

I met a physician two summers ago out in NM who was seemingly a bird-flu "nut." He had done just that which I mentioned above. I expect there are some smart people who are doing that, look at Jeff who pops up here periodically. Got his hideout in Costa Rica.

No need to starve and freeze to death. Back in the recessions of the 70's and early 80's when I was young in new jersey I knew many homeless people who would commit a small crime just to go to county jail for the winter. Three hots and a cot. A job in the laundry and your out in six months just in time for spring.

No, it is much simpler than that. Overpopulation on a finite planet leads to hunger. End of story.

            Really? It's that simple?

We've had hunger and famine on this planet since earliest recorded history, and likely long before that.

How low does the population have to go before it's eliminated?

What if the population was reduced to level of the days of the Egyptian pharaohs? Would that fix things?

Perhaps not...Genesis 41:30; And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land.

Then again, they didn't have John Deere and Monsanto, did they...

I've got my hideout all set to go, it is in Lima, Ohio. There is a 12ftx3ftX9ft pantry surrounded by 6" concrete walls. It also has 3 full-size refrigerators packed with food, almost to the point where the door won't shut. I will have to eat really well when the electricity goes out though. Nothing like a feast before the famine.

This cornucopia is also know as Mom's, sorry but I have to keep the exact location secret, She really does have more food than anyone I know of and some restaurants for that matter. I don't think she would actually notice if all the supermarket on the planet disappeared, for at least 6 months. I hope you all have you stashes setup. I know where mine is.
