looks like it's heading down with everything else ka-wise. sell and get back in later? worries: high transaction costs, maybe won't be able to get back in at all if currencies go nuts poom-wise.

Re: metals action making me nerrrrrrvous
it still looks like a trading range consolidation, and it could go as low as 575 without challenging that interpretation. for a longer term view, look at the 2nd chart:
$GOLD - Daily Candlesticks, Very Wide (780)
http://stockcharts.com/c-sc/sc?s=$GO...=65818654&r=19
in this chart gold could go to 600 and not violate the steeper trendline. it could go to 480 and still be consistant with its longer term trend.
richard russell suggests just holding on as long as you're convinced we're in a long term bull market for gold. it's hard to trade, hard to know when to get back in. i know the one time i tried to be "smart" and sold a whole bunch of cef because of its premium, i regretted it. good luck with whatever you do.Last edited by jk; August 17, 2006, 02:45 PM.

AOL, Time Warner’s Internet arm, on Tuesday said it will soon dig on the property of the parents of a runaway spammer whom it says buried gold and platinum on the residence’s grounds, in an effort to obtain the $12.8 million the man was ordered to pay to the company by a U.S. District Court in Virginia, the Associated Press reports via the New York Post.

Meanwhile, I wouldn't let the metals action get me down too much. Looks like we're encountering a bit of deflationary turbulence. Doubt HeliBen will tolerate that for long...Last edited by Finster; August 17, 2006, 04:12 PM.Finster

Metalman, (is it precious metalman or basic metalman--PM sounds better than BM)
According to Finster's projective chart on gold at his site
http://users.zoominternet.net/~fwuth...erGoldForecast
gold should bottom in the week 9/9/06 and start back up.
Otherwise, I found this article http://www.financialsense.com/fsu/ed...2006/0816.html rather interesting in discussing the possibilities.
I personally am holding in there with the expectation of some more downside in gold, but in hopes of much more upside--unless inflation is dead.Jim 69 y/o
