    the upper chart shows 2003 chinese exports at 30% of gdp, while the lower one shows total trade at 60%. that seems consistent since the chinese import raw materials for value-added processing into their exports, plus they have imports of oil and other domestic consumables.

      True, but one measures good & services and the other measures only goods, and it makes little sense that services would match goods.

      I'm still mid stream on the various stats and things like comparing monetary base against credit growth also don't track well with how other countries show their data... and take my observation with large grains of salt since I am mid stream.

        this is my first post on itulip. decided to check it out. more deflation would kill off some hedge funds, but oh well.

        a new trend towards paying off debt could me in the making. deflationary in the short term but positive over the long term.
