In my worthless opinion, I have found Popular Mechanics to be a shill magazine supporting the interest of someone; who this is, I don't know. I've seen them time and time again publish articles that support a specific position when timing is appropriate.

Overall this could be another "check box" marked that those in positions of power are pushing the next bubble.

Maybe things are so bad that they recognize that the next bubble needs to be ramped up ASAP, otherwise things will go so deep (e.g. depression) that even another bubble will not turn things around.
