Truckers ‘going broke’ and threatening to strike

What started as a small, online grassroots effort now appears to have the potential for something bigger.

Dan Little, the owner/operator of a livestock hauling company in Carrollton, Mo., estimated Tuesday that at least 1,000 other truckers from across the United States have committed so far to joining him in a strike on April 1.

"What I would personally like to see is our federal and state governments, until our economy recovers, suspend federal and state fuel taxes,” the 49-year-old said. “The second thing I’d like to see is an oversight committee for truck insurance, which is part of what’s taking us down." more...

There are going to many un-for-seen or "Knock on" effects to this. Eric will get another book out of what happens. Here in Blighty we have PFI or Public finance in-ish-a-tive.

This is a way that WE tax payers get to be charged 2-3 times as much for a project because we borrow money via the banks. We do it this way to keep the borrowing off the balance sheet.

Well Gordon decied that he like to buld some schools.......and asked who like the contract?

All the Banks said "Er, Yes but er we have not got any money to lend".

As i recall Japan tried to do a "New Deal", all types of Projects..............but it didn't do much for them.

A New Deal given today's economical interactions seems futile, simply because big money will get the cheapest possible source of everything. It would only work if US closes completely to the rest of the World, or legislates in a way to avoid loopholes and tax free heavens.

In case of truckers, given the imminent aperture of US to Mexican truckers, the outcome seems to be planned and in execution.

Anyway, the original New Deal was based on government debt and overexpense, ¿Am I wrong?
