Re: Is this Black Monday? Pro/contra, live report from the front/sofa generals

My belief is that this should've been Black Monday following what should've been Black Friday. Jim's right, 1/22 was a lower low in many ways, and I had to wait until today to regain full value in my financial puts. I cashed out as I am worried tomorrow will bring a huge if not sustained rally despite what should be a full panic for investors. The Fed will continue to save these liars. Perhaps we should be looking towards industries that won't be bailed out directly such as homebuilders or commercial real estate for a nearer-term kablooey.

Thanks to all who posted (Mega, Jim Nickerson, jacobdcoates, goldisliberty, rj1, Verrocchio, Tulpen, touchring, World Traveler, Nervous Drake, babittd, Finster, tree, Jeff, Nicolasd, ax). I just had to share a little of the "fear and greed" that characterizes all investors, and was particularly nervous/eager/full of something yesterday night. In the end it didn't amount to much on the US side. But the other aspect is watching history unfold, and having a little fun.

tree: nice reference to Ides of March - makes us all think sadly of the end of the Republic.
Jim: thanks for harking back to 1987 in a short understatement.
Nicolasd, Verrochio: nice to meet a fellow Scandinavian, if that's what you are, or thanks for throwing in a Scandinavian word or two.

I still have a sneaking suspicion that many of us will end up bent over a barrel (or Jim's wheelbarrow), grabbing our ankles. TPTB simply cannot let too many of us get away. We've snuck out while ECB/Fed quarrels, but when TS really HTF we're toast. Let's just hope we're less tasty toast when Leviathan roars. "Silent enim leges inter arma"
