  • Desperate owners burn down their homes

I've never started a thread on ITulip before, but I saw this on the CNN homepage just now and figured you all might be interested.

I know the concept itself is not news to anyone here - however the fact that it's now a front page story at a major MSM outlet seemed like it was worth noting.

Torch My Ride: Arson for Hire
Debt-weary SUV owners unload their gas-guzzlers on insurance companies
      June 12, 2006 (Edmunds.com)

SUV owners who are faced with rising gas prices have found a new way to get out from under their high car payments — arson.

This trend was spotted by a Southern California arson task force in the summer of 2005 when gas prices spiked. At one point, firefighters responding to a report of a vehicle fire arrived at the Los Angeles River Bed to find two SUVs burning at the same time.

I vote for public beheadings. Much more theatrical. And here's how to do it right (bloody amazing what's in the BBC archive)...

            Saudi executioner tells all

Saudi Arabia's leading executioner says he is "very proud to do God's work" and does not lose sleep over beheading several people in one day.

...He expressed indifference about the number of beheadings he was required to carry out.
"It doesn't matter to me: two, four, 10 - as long as I'm doing God's will, it doesn't matter how many people I execute"...

..."The criminal was tied and blindfolded. With one stroke of the sword I severed his head. It rolled metres away," he said, recalling his first beheading...

...Mr Beshi said his sword was a gift from the government. He keeps it razor sharp and sometimes his children help him clean it. "People are amazed how fast it can separate the head from the body," he said...

...As an experienced executioner, Mr Beshi now trains others for the grim task. He is proud that his son was taken on as an executioner.
Training focuses on how to hold the sword and where to bring the blade down...

Re: Desperate owners burn down their homes

The point of the last three posts is that some people in high places need to be held accountable to the public and not to those that may be largely responsible for the operations of things for their own benefits (I guess that would be the bankers and brokerages of Wall Street). Accountability to the public isn't on the menu in my opinion

We the people will continue to be screwed.

Re: Desperate owners burn down their homes

Well gang, this is just the start. The automobile arson will soon be on the rise (if it's not already) and worse, the stories about brokers being threatened or assaulted just like 1987 will spread.

Tune in for more as we lose another primary dealer in the weeks to come...

Thank God S&P said it's over and all contained now.
