  • Have you ever tried to talk to "Sheep" ?

    I have!

For the last few years i tried to talk to my fellow English men about Iraq/Home prcies etc. I found this to be a waste of time, they simply go on "grasszn" the grass.

    Iraq:-
When we were on the run up to the Iraq war common sense seemed to evapoate from the people around me. These were not foolish people, they run their own bussiness and are quite highly skilled.

However, when ever i asked the question "WHY are we going to war" they get a wide look i their eyes " Saddam is a MAD man, he going to attack us, he going to use WMD on us!" (panic, panic)

I ask "Why would he?"......He knows the west would strike back.....then i attempt to discuss if the fact he was selling oil for Euro's had anything to do with it?

    The $:-
Tried & tried again to get people to see that the insane housing bubble and the credit bubble that went with have "poped"............Its over. Very few people here in Blighty seem to get it. While a few admit under their breath that a recession "Might" be on the way.......they can't seem to get a grip on the fact that the rules have changed.

America is on the bones of her ass, she is being "Mugged" for number 1 spot but China, and then India. While this period is like the late 70's....this time we have Russia/China/India as 1ST World nations (or almost 1st world) to contend with.............it won't be the same this time round!

...........And NO one wants to READ Peter Schiffs book!

I sit here tonight in Liverpool, totaly depressed, American's whom i love & Brits whom i know, can't see what happening......they rather sit in front of the TV and watch the "Pro-gan-da...sorry Programs" that Fox has lined up for them.

As my late Irish Grandfather said to me as a child, "Michael, be very carful about following the herd, they are either being lead off to be milked or lead off to be slaughterd!"

Mike, I think this is your most in-depth post yet, and I enjoyed it especially the wisdom of your grandfather.

Consider that if some or most of what you have read on iTluip is correct and you have used it to prepare yourself financially as well as you can, then I would think you are in a better position than those who seem to you to be rather mindless and unquestioning. There should be a little elation from that versus depression.

My life got better for me when I stopped worrying about what other people think. Hell, they are responsible for their lives, and I mine, and you yours. Protect yourself as well as you can, and if you turn out to be well off or better off, and they aren't, then seriously don't let them know you are better off, and do your best to fit in as always.

Be happy, advice from someone who sees a lot to bitch about in the world, but continue to rely upon yourself as the person totally responsible for looking after Mega Mike, which to me it seem you are doing with or without Schiff.

this is interesting...I was under the impression from various anti-American Europeans that most British were outspoken against Blair backing Dubya.

        Great post, Mega.

I got a sick feeling about housing from this article when I first read this on AlwaysOn in early 2004 on the housing bubble: http://www.itulip.com/housingnotlikeequities.htm

Then searched and I found this from 2002:

        http://www.itulip.com/qc082002.htm

I started to keep an eye on real estate here in Northern CA. Then came this on AO a year later.

        http://www.itulip.com/housingbubblecorrection.htm

        Then this six months later:

I may need some right offs this year so maybe he is doing me a favor, so if u need to lose money put it in his fund - it will be a winner for ya big time! If I could figure out how to post my statements I would give U a first hand look at his performance - it isn't good!

Oh ya did I say he sucks BIG TIME? If I did not he does suck VERY big TIME. And he can KISS my ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

              Just my thoughts

Why invest in something so you can write off losses?

I am up > 300% on PMs so far and up 15% so far this year. Am I missing something?

Sorry, I'm not a sophisticated investor.
