remember this from are we idiots?

"Are they seething with righteous anger with pitch forks and torches in hand? Are they ready to storm the bastions of so-called housing boosters like the closing scene in some modern day Frankenstein movie? Or does the ‘I’ in iTulip actually stand for idiot?"

Cryptic Notes Left At Vandalized Bremerton Banks

BREMERTON, Wash. -- Bremerton police said four banks were vandalized early Thursday, with each incident involving windows broken with pieces of concrete that had notes taped to them, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

The banks involved were a US Bank at 2020 Sixth St., a Key Bank at 3750 Wheaton Way, a Bank of America at 1000 Sixth St. and a Kitsap Bank at 3425 Wheaton Way.

According to police, the vandals did not go in any of the banks.“No entry was gained and nothing was taken, so it appears this was the delivery of some kind of message by the perpetrators,” Andy Oakley with Bremerton police said.

Police said the content of the notes were all the same and read as follows:

Directions: Attach to brick and throw through window

“Here is your brick back." "Recognize it? You should.”

“It is part of the wall that you, as one of the elite upper class, have helped to build between the minority ruling class, and the majority working class throughout history. By flaunting your decadence, you have made yourself a target.”

“Get used to it!”“Social youth chaos-f___ s___ up!”

Yep. Just what I see when I look around the landscape around these parts. "...mass of unemployed young folks + an older [fundamentalist religious leader or six] to lead them = revolution!".

They had the internet too. Until all the undersea cables started getting cut a few weeks back...

I was thinking about starting a pool over on my blog where we guess the date of te first bank to get shot up, the first mortgage broker to get gangland-style executed and the big one, a psycho killer in the offices of a Greenwich, Connecticut hedge fund.

I keep in my closet a T-shirt that reads, "Eat the other rich first."

          Hasta la victoria siempre.

            FRED,

This looks like spam to me, why are the links NOT re-directed?

              Jim -

Jeff's been a member of this community since I started reading here, 18 months ago. He knows EJ from ten years ago apparently. Maybe a little less 'policing zeal' would help, if only to avoid the 'land-mines'?

I know it's Jeff, but I raised the question last night, about a link zoog put in to seekingalpha which involved a serious discussion, and the link I surmised had been redirected by perhaps you or someone in the control room. I ranted about it.

Serious discourse here should not be interfered with by rinky-dink (that is less than little league) behavior of screwing with links to references that serious contributors may put up.

I'd like to be corrected if I am wrong in my surmise, and I would like EJ or anyone he designates to state the iTulip policy regarding screwing with references. To do so is surely anti-intellectual, and despite how much I personally feel I get out of participating here, if such continues it makes me think I am in the wrong place--whew! that ought to scare the shit out of you. But I am totally serious in the complaint.

Just noticed, I screwed up that post, I meant, "Why are the links NOT redirected"? Sorry, very poor proofing on my part.

What I was and am still trying to do is draw the management into an open discussion here about what equals censorship.

I thought the whole thing was just fevered ravings...until I read the above post of yours.

Item 5 from Rajiv's post on The Five Stages of Collapse (highlight mine):
Stage 5: Cultural collapse. Faith in the goodness of humanity is lost. People lose their capacity for "kindness, generosity, consideration, affection, honesty, hospitality, compassion, charity" (Turnbull, The Mountain People). Families disband and compete as individuals for scarce resources. The new motto becomes "May you die today so that I die tomorrow" (Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago). There may even be some cannibalism.

Most of us iTulipers are still back at Stage 1 - "Financial Collapse". Clearly your thinking is way ahead of the curve (and the crowd) yet again...;)

I think the point Orlov was making was

Although many people imagine collapse to be a sort of elevator that goes to the sub-basement (our Stage 5) no matter which button you push, no such automatic mechanism can be discerned. Rather, driving us all to Stage 5 will require that a concerted effort be made at each of the intervening stages.
