Along the lines of "When the US catches cold, the rest of the world gets pneumonia":

"When the US financial system gets pneumonia, the UK contracts ebola"

I have a generic suggestion for the community. Instead of an ever increasing string of individual threads, could we make an effort to connect new or updated information on a topic to the previous thread on the same topic. For example, how many previous times have we had items started on UK Housing? This is not intended to be a criticism of this one example - I think most of us could do a better job organizing our input to facilitate future retrieval and use of the information. Otherwise it's just a bunch of disconnected factoids floating around in espace.

For stuff that may not clearly fit into a previous thread, it might fit into one of JN's Bear/Bull news threads.

There is a search feature, so it can't be that difficult to find the previous threads on the same topic. Just a suggestion folks.

Nah, everyone in America is too lazy to work hard--like finding threads that discuss the same thing. It is so easy to just start a new thread and to hell with organization. Great suggestion, Greg. Wanna bet how fruitful it turns out to be?

I like the idea of stuff being more organized, but I'm not crazy about the super long threads, like the Bullish and Bearish Information threads. My objection has to do with the mechanics of the site. Once you get past a certain number of comments, you have to scroll down, open up a new screen, then scroll down and over. I'm not sure why, but it just seems a bit cumbersome and clumsy to me, and difficult to use if one wants to retrieve info. I wonder if it would be possible to have sub-threads. Folders within folders. Within "News" you could have "Housing News", and within that "UK Housing".

I work with a lot of 20-something people who don't organize anything on their computer. Search features like Mac Spotlight have gotten so good that they can find anything easily even if it's swimming in a mass of poorly organized files and folders. One way technology makes some people LESS organized.

the administrators can go to the "similar threads" list at the bottom of a new thread and merge similar threads, no?

Re: Uk Housing about to CRASH

I'm always amazed when it's easier to search for specific data on a company's website using Google than it is to try and navigate/search the website itself.

                  What are "BN threads"?

One thing about long threads attempting to deal with the same topic is such threads establish a degree of chronology. Granted it is cumbersome to search for something by scrolling, but if one is looking for reference to posts near some certain period of time, it is easier, at least for me.

My bad. Should be BI, for Bullish Information and Bearish Information. I'll adjust my post.

True. But I've more or less given up following these threads. I spend a lot of time getting there, then find I'm not that interested in the new post. Also, when I'm searching for a post, I generally remember who made it, so I'll search the page of all their posts. There's no way I'd remember what thread any particular post is on.

                      Perhaps at your own peril.

Shit, I look at every new post on iTulip and in many of them I find I have no interest (perhaps at my own peril). I assume you know if you access New Posts and hit the > by the name of the last poster, it carries you to his/her post. I always start with the last new post on a thread and page up til I find one I haven't read and then read down. Nothing so hard about that, unless someone knows a better way.
