      Re: Big News in Canada

Our sanctimonious narcissist Prime Minister has been revelling in the adulation he's received from dispensations of enormous largesse during COVID. The wage support program alone is every MONTH costing the equivalent of last year's annual Federal deficit. We are running a Federal deficit per capita that is more than three times the USA COVID peak.

The gusher of "free" money from the government has proved so popular with the citizens that the PM dumped Bill Morneau (not the sharpest Finance Minister the nation has endured) who was somewhat of a brake on the PM's escalating spending ambitions. Chrystia Freeland has almost no qualifications for the post (she is a journalist and an author) other than the essential ingredient that she will not oppose any of the spending expectations of her boss. It's sort of like putting a teacher in charge of the health care system.

The money taps are going to be turned open even more it appears. I confidently predict it will be one of the greatest misallocations of taxpayer capital in the nation's history. The PM is just another corrupt Quebec politician. Since the SNC Lavalin scandal he dumped the Justice Minister and then ran her out of the Liberal Party. Lavalin has received more than 100 government contracts since. I fully expect to see bananas growing in Ottawa before this is all over.

We are referring to our new economic plans here in Canada as "Freeconomics".

        Here we go; Exhibit 1:

        https://ontarioconstructionnews.com/...-solar-panels/

Feds spending up to $1.1 million to retrofit Toronto ambulances with solar panels

This is going to go down as one of the stupidest ideas since British Columbia bought hydrogen buses for Vancouver and Whistler, and used more diesel energy hauling hydrogen tankers from Quebec (the closest source) than the buses themselves used.

In a country notorious for its long, snowy winters the EMS ambulances are kept under cover when not in emergency service - generally heated garages at the 24 hour staffed EMS stations. Difficult to get the sunlight onto the panel.

        Freeconomics in action.

Personally, I would rather have seen them spend the money on better life-saving equipment INSIDE the ambulances.

His time is coming to an End, History will not judge him well

On the Hydrogen front what do you think about the idea that Iceland will use Geo-thermal power to make vast amounts of "Green" Hydrogen then ship it to Europe like CNG ?

This is not funny but I can't stop laughing.

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I wish I could laugh. But this is level of nitwit thinking that has permeated our now completely politicized economy. And after the utter debacle of Ontario's "green" electricity experience I would have thought they (Toronto and Ontario politicians) would be a bit more demanding about the cost/benefit outcomes of these sorts of public expenditures.

I dropped a note to an engineer friend of mine and asked if he could calculate how many ambulances Canada would have to equip with solar panels to offset the carbon from just one new Chinese coal fired power plant. He replied he didn't think we had anywhere near enough ambulances in the whole country.

You know I think the future is ultimately H2 powered. This is an interesting idea, taking advantage of Iceland's natural geothermal endowment.

                Re: Big News in Canada

It just came to me while out walking the dog, thus the British will have to INVADE them!

Germany IS going DEEP on H2 as is FRANCE (Total)....Japan & South Korea.

I wonder if its possiable to blend 10% H2 into NG network & then extract it at a petrol station?
The Petrol station gets the H2, the NG simply returned to the network?

                Just thinking.........EJ style
